As well as the regular summer street skates LondonSkate promotes or supports other special skating events during the year. As well as those listed below there are many other events planned for this year. Check in regularly for news.

The annual SantaSkate is the biggest street skate of the year and the best festive fun. Becoming almost globally famous the last event attracted over 500 skating Santa’s, reindeer, elves and snowmen on a two hour jingle round Christmas London. First run in 2003 with a handful of LondonSkate Marshals as a bit of fun the event ballooned over the following years attracting skaters from all over England as well as Europe. Run by the LondonSkate with help from our friends at the London Friday Night Skate the event is not only the best street skate of the year but raises much needed funds for London’s free Street Skating scene. Next years event on the 14th Dec will be even bigger than the last.

EasterSkate

Organised by our friends of the LFNS, the Easter Skating Eggstravaganza Weekend is now in its second year running and we are looking forward to again giving our support. London skaters will kick off the summer season on the 21st March 2008 with 4 days of FREE events, including lessons, quad dancing performances and demonstrations of freestyle skating and slalom with drop in workshops. There will also be a treasure hunt and many more games in Hyde Park.

Other highlights include the long Good Friday Night Skate and the ‘Bunny Stroll’ fancy dress skate on Easter Sunday.

Organised independently, the annual Halloween skate sees a horde of spooky skaters take to the streets for a howl of a costumed street skate. Witches, werewolves, ghouls and ghosts galore the event is always a scream. LondonSkate brings the Bassfreight and our pals The Thumper Crew join the party to play a spine tingling mix of spook-tastic tunes. Usually run on the closest Sunday evening to Halloween the skate is marshalled at an intermediate pace.

Eastbourne Extreme

A weekend of skating events organised by the Eastbourne Skate Association and running in conjunction with the Eastborne Extreme Sports festival. The event has skating activities for all levels and ages including streetskates, competitions, roller disco and skate instruction. The festival has been run for many years now and is a great weekend for all ages. LondonSkate though not directly involved strongly supports this event and will be on the coast in force for a good time this year.

Thames Festival

LondonSkate supports the LFNS as they represent and promote London Skaters at the annual Thames Festival Parade. Last years event saw a giant Chinese style dragon on skates and a truly mobile roller disco. This years plans are still under wraps but as ever are bound to be bigger than ever.
